Customer Reviews
Great value for starting out
I just needed to test out some voice AI ideas, so I used the free starting credits from Vapi. It was super easy to get going. I built a quick appointment booking agent with their API. For what I paid (nothing!), it was totally worth it. Good way to try out the tech without spending money.
Good platform for voice AI
I used Vapi's Voice AI API and the Python SDK to build a prototype for an automated customer support agent. The documentation was pretty clear, which helped a lot since I'm more on the data science side. Setting up the initial agent was straightforward. I appreciated the free trial credits which let me test out the functionality without commitment. Latency was decent, even with custom voice models. The WebRTC SDK also worked well for a browser-based demo. Delivery of the service itself is instant, obviously, and any support questions I had were answered within 24 hours, which is standard for dev tools. My only minor issue was finding specific examples for more complex LLM orchestration scenarios; I had to experiment a bit more there.
Pretty easy to use
I was messing around with building a voice bot, just for fun. Vapi made it pretty straightforward to connect my LLM. The documentation helped a lot. It just worked, you know? No weird bugs or anything. Happy with how it turned out.
Solid tech, some rough edges
I tried Vapi for a real-time conversational agent project. The low latency processing was definitely a plus, and integrating our own LLM was surprisingly easy. It worked as advertised for the core voice pipeline. However, the analytics dashboard felt a little basic for my needs; I was hoping for more detailed insights out of the box. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about SIP Trunking, though. Overall, a good service that delivers on its promises, but there's room for improvement on the reporting side.
Consistently reliable service
I've used Vapi for a few projects now, both for AI sales assistants and internal tools. This time I was setting up a multi-language voice support agent. Just like before, the setup was smooth and the service performed as expected. The voice quality and response times have been consistent across all my deployments. It's why I keep coming back; I know what I'm getting. No surprises, which is exactly what you want when dealing with infrastructure.

Share tips, ask questions & help fellow shoppers save more
Does Vapi support integrating with my own custom LLMs? Or am I stuck with whatever they provide out of the box?
Thinking about paying annually to save some cash. Do they give a discount for annual billing, or is it just monthly?
Anyone know how Vapi stacks up against something like Retell AI? On paper they look similar but curious about real-world performance or dev experience.
Can I integrate Vapi with my existing phone system, like our company's current VoIP setup? Or is it all through their platform?
Is Vapi good for really high call volumes? Like, if I'm planning to scale up to thousands of simultaneous calls, will it handle that or will I hit bottlenecks?
